Mr. Moncrief received his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2019. Since then, he has been professionally licensed and practicing full time as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in an agency setting. Matt is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Matthew has experience helping clients with a wide range of conditions from severe mental illness to difficulty adjusting to life events. He has been fortunate to travel, study, and work in many different countries and throughout the United States, so he brings an appreciation for diverse cultures, races, religions, and gender identities. Matthew enjoys working with older teenagers and adults across the lifespan.

Matthew takes time to understand each person’s unique experiences, diverse background and identity, challenges, and hopes for the future. At its core, his practice is trauma-informed and person-centered. Matthew is comfortable focusing on clients’ specific needs to effect change: solving immediate problems, gaining coping and life skills to control unhelpful thoughts and emotions, developing crisis survival skills, and finding meaning and purpose. Matthew believes that improving relationships is central to happiness. Using a holistic approach to counseling, Matthew uses many different treatment modalities in his practice.
