Mr. Bolton is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over 30 years of clinical experience, the last 21 years being with Mental Health Services/Family NET of Catawba County. Mr. Bolton provides individual, marital/relationship, and family therapy for adults and adolescents. In addition, he has experience in providing substance abuse assessments, treatment, and referral services. He has extensive experience in working with both situational and chronic emotional and behavioral disorders.

Mr. Bolton also served as the Program Coordinator for the Catawba Co. Employee Assistance Program (EAP), providing assessments and counseling to EAP-referred employees while providing training to supervisors of EAP companies. For over 13 years, Mr. Bolton served as a Clinical Supervisor and as a Clinical Program Manager.

Mr. Bolton primarily employs a cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approach, specifically Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). He uses other solution-focused and brief therapies as needed, including training in assertiveness skills, relaxation techniques, and systematic desensitization – techniques that are particularly effective in treating anxiety, panic, and phobic disorders. He has been in private practice since January 2009.
